"I have felt first hand how a Yoga practice can help the practitioner feel and trust their own body again.
As a teacher I am interested in working with mind body practices that allow you to feel rather than only cognitively understand the wisdom of Yoga, exploring and embodying what it means to be human and learning to live fully and vibrantly in the bodies and lives that we have, whatever form they may take. Yoga helped me rediscover my own equilibrium, and allowed me to expand more fully into my own life, that sense of feeling held and supported yet simultaneously spacious and free is something I believe should be accessible to everyone both on and off the mat." |

Since experiencing Yoga for the first time in 1998, the year after gaining my BA Hons Philosophy I have seen first hand how a Yoga practice can quieten a busy, or anxious mind, and how it can help the practitioner listen to and trust their own body again.
I certified as an Iyengar Yoga Teacher in 2008, and now practice as a Yoga Alliance E-RYT 500, whilst living in the UK I attended weekly classes with senior Iyengar yoga teachers (Wendy McGuire, Sasha Perryman, Marios Argiros) who learned directly from B.K.S Iyengar for many years. I was fortunate enough to experience the teaching of Dr Geeta Iyengar during her last visit to the UK in 2009 and Abhijata Iyengar during her visit in 2014. I teach traditional Yoga that continues to be inspired by the teachings of BKS Iyengar and his family.
But my practice and teaching started to deepen when I began attending Matthew Sanford's workshops in 2010 then in 2014 visited Mind Body Solutions in Minnesota, USA. Where I was fortunate enough to be taught by not only Matthew and his amazing faculty of teachers, but also by his students, who taught me more about yoga than I ever knew possible. Training with MBS has opened up for me not only an awareness of the connections in my own practice but also an awareness of the connections in all humanity.
Through my own practice and teaching both Yoga to people with all levels of ability and disability I have seen how the principles of Yoga are universal, Yoga does not discriminate. But more than this I have seen how an understanding of these principles can help everybody be more present in their body, more grounded. This grounding leads to greater expansion and an increase in compassion towards others whilst being able to maintain safe boundary and avoid burnout - to be able to simultaneously take care of ourselves and others. This understanding led me to return to Minnesota to complete MBS’ “Integrating Yoga principles into Healthcare Delivery” training in 2015, learning to teach healthcare professionals how to use Mind Body techniques in their everyday life, techniques that can be used both for themselves and their patients.
My annual visits to Minnesota also led me to meet the love of my life, my husband. in 2023 I relocated across the pond to live with him in Rochester New York......funny how attending a workshop in 2010 led me down a path that would change my life completely...you never know where those turns in the path will take you - keep exploring!
My greatest desire is to see the principles of Yoga integrated into every aspect of how we relate to ourselves and to each other. Working to share the essence of Yoga with every body has deepened my exploration of these principles, helped me rediscover my own equilibrium within the experience of existence, and allowed me to expand more into my own life, that sense of freedom and space is something I want for everyone.
And of course my two greatest teachers are my daughters, who teach me gratitude, compassion and patience every day.
So my journey continues...
